Students in the Health and Human Services concentration take classes in health care policy, economics, organization, and management. The area also offers specialty courses with emphasis on the needs of particular patient groups such as the elderly and individuals with chronic illness, or on particular institutions such as hospitals, health maintenance organizations and long term care facilities. This area of concentration provides the skills and knowledge necessary for careers in health care policy analysis or health care administration in the public, nonprofit and private health care sectors. Recent graduates in this area are employed in both public and private hospitals, health maintenance organizations, public health agencies, state health departments and community-based health care centers and specialty agencies. Students must select their concentration courses from the following list. Other courses must be approved by their advisor and the department.
