The Nonprofits and Local Government concentration provides knowledge and skills for students seeking careers in nonprofit organizations or local government agencies. Students develop a set of managerial skills including organization and financial management. They learn about target population needs and service delivery systems, particularly in the human and health-related services, and the role of nonprofits and local government in community life. The concentration offers a variety of opportunities for real-world experience through meetings with agency management and with elected and appointed government officials, through participation in field internships, and through course-related projects provided by nonprofit and local government agencies. Students must select their concentration courses from the following list. Other courses must be approved by their advisor and the department.
